LIT-GEO Summit continues with visits to Riachuelos Community, Cabachuelas Natural Reserve, La Boca, Mangle Totem, and Caño Tiburones. Summit is comprised of project collaborators and professors from UPR Arecibo, East Carolina University, and North Carolina Central University.
The Cabachuelas Natural Reserve talked about the formation and environmental problems impacting the community. Later, the group visited the La Boca in Barceloneta and the Mangle Totem with Alondra from the Luciérnagas Foundation talking about their education projects and environmental problems of the Islote area and Caño Tiburones. To finalize the route, the group visited the Caño in the Zanja Fría area to talk about the problems that are caused by the landfill in a wetland.
This effort was made with the collaboration with community organization such as Ciudadanos del Karso (CDK), Cabachuelas Project, and Bosque Modelo de Puerto Rico for the creation of projects that impact the community with the use of geosciences.
