Prof. Acosta’s Research team made history by having the first students to present at the International Speleology Congress of Brazil.
Student Sydnie Vazquez Mendez alonside Prof. Acosta presented the research project “Expanding the Paleontological Record in the Cabachuelas Nature Reserve” at the 7th Symposium of Cabachuelas at Morovis, Puerto Rico.

Students Louang Cruz, Gabriela Alonso, Jan Fernández and Ariam Burgos were nominated as outstanding students in Chemistry – Puerto Rico Outstanding Chemistry Student Awards PRCHEM 2025 of the College of Chemists of Puerto Rico.
The Puerto Rican delegation, led by Sidney Vázquez and his professor Ángel Acosta, highlights the importance of local work in the field of speleology.
Prof. Monica offered orientation on the different science programs of the department to students from the Tomas Alva Edison School in Caguas on the ISMuL facility.
