The Luciérnagas Foundation received a visit from a group of research professors from the UPR- Arecibo, East Carolina University and North Carolina Central University who are part of the Leading Inclusive Transformation in Geoscience via an Intercultural Network of Learning Ecosystems (LIT-GEO) project. The educators have joined forces with community organizations such as Proyecto Cabachuelas, Bosque Modelo de Puerto Rico and Ciudadanos del Karso to create community impact projects using geosciences.
During her visit to the Totem, Alondra Gabriel, environmental microbiologist and volunteer at Luciérnagas, gave them a talk about the educational projects we are involved in as well as the environmental problems that affect both our community and the Caño Tiburones Wetland. We would especially like to thank professors Angel Acosta and Pablo Llerandi for their support and including us in their journey through our natural resources.
